A bit of research turns up the following gems.

They never had strenght of over 30!
They were issued weapons but never issued ammunition
They saw the front line once and were instantly sent back by the OC before they'd even debussed.

My personal bugbear is tthe soft ods who badge up as BFC with 'Britische Frei Korps' cufftitles.

Thats cufftitle never exsisted, it was in English as British Free Corps

(they wanted to be called the legion of St George but thought it would caus e too much trouble with the British legion.)

There's a lovely bit of fiction involving a a BFC member in the 'eagle has landed' . Harvey Preston is attached to Steiners group to keep an eye on the operation from the SS's persepcitve. They took him out of the film for some reason, he was a great character and personified the sort of bloke the BFC recruited.

Whats the link between my post and that pic Lewis?

Or did you accidsdently quote me

Sorry i didnt realise i think i might of clicked it when scrolling down sorry, will edit.

Not a problem just checking you were not trying to re-inforce or dispute a point via the pic.

The Harvey character in the book of TEHL is a good depiction of the sort of chancer I would beleive would have been attracted to BFC.

Spot on

I believe based on the only officer the BFC had who wasn't a real officer either and had lied about being one.

I am tempted to scan my Commando mag about this,if anyone wants me to tell me because I dont want to do it for no reason.

If your on about commando as in the illustrated lads comic. There is an article with two Brits fighting with the Russians. They are in the RAF aiding the Russain airforce. And come under scrutiny as their are a few brits serving with the German forces that attack the airfield. :o

Nope not that one its about Brits,South Africans,Kiwis,Australians fighting in a unit in the Waffen SS not bad for a comic.

I like the earlier quote of 'Some bits of the Third Reich are best not remembered' IMHO the world should never forget anything those b**** got up to although my grand-parents did meet in an air raid shelter!

But to the topic in point... why would anyone want to dress up as BFC - it's a bit like admitting you're a useless little w** before the first shot is fired. I can understand the Euro SS a little bit more as 'if you can't beat them' etc. but if we continue that idea the French Army for the past 200 years would have been French-British-French-British-French-Prussian-German-French-German plus regular defections to the Algerian, Angolan and Vietnamese armies more recently :?

So BFC = NO unless you're happy to spend the game tied up in a shed before the firing squad. Any SS = prey as far as I am concerned. I certainly don't give warning prior to lobbing in a grenade....
